Our Why Pad & Quill is a community of artisans whose aim is to make versatile luxury accessories, at an amazing value, that blur the line between traditional craftsmanship and modern technology. Using only the highest quality materials and age-tested traditional techniques, each piece is thoughtfully designed to meet the demands of our modern devices while honoring the traditions of the past. Our Story As entrepreneurs and artisans, we started this business with $1200 and a vision for creating unique products, sold directly to customers online, that bring the timeless manufacturing techniques of the past together with the modern technology of today. We literally painted our web designer’s deck in exchange for a website and worked with local artisans to create 4 prototypes and went live selling our first iPad and iPhone cases in summer 2010. After 3000 cases shipped out the home basement window, we decided it was time to move to a warehouse located in a historical building on the banks of the Mississippi in Minneapolis. All materials are responsibly sourced and our artisans take pride in their work and workplace. We do this so we can sleep well at night, and so can you.
